Friday 24th June 2016

So the turkeys have all voted for Christmas. So annoyed that we will now have potentially years of uncertainty and serious questions over the ability to move back abroad. The worst is the proof that the morons are in the majority in the whole country, not just New Milton. Not happy to live among them.

I didn't think I could be less proud to be British, but I am. And very afraid.

Greengate Cottage, Uplowman, where at least three generations of the family had lived

Several of my family have married at St Peter's Church, Uplowman, including my great-grandfather's sisters, Harriet Stone and Lucy Jane Stone. Their brothers, John Stone and Francis Stone and parents Henry Stone and Mary Ridgeway, my 2x great-grandparents, are buried in the churchyard. We didn't find the graves on this visit, not expecting them to have had the resources to afford headstones.

Whilst in Uplowman, we visited Widhays Farmyard (which has numerous Listed Buildings), which we'd gained permission to do in advance, to take some photos. Henry Stone had worked on this farm as an Agricultural Labourer.
