Breakfast: What’s left to eat?

Baby Bear and His PorridgeContinuing the series, there's a dim hope in the back of my mind that, if you follow my rambling logic, perhaps it'll give you ideas, confirm ones you already had, or help you make healthy choices. If not, sit back and be entertained!

What choices have we got left for breakfast then? There's always the wholemeal bread, which could be spread with sugar free jam / marmalade (jelly for the US viewer), but without low fat spread (in place of margarine / butter) that's only allowed "Sometimes" it seems like a pretty uninspiring choice.

It could be bad enough to make Paddington Bear eat Marmite!

Fruit would be OK (with a fat free yoghurt maybe.) But I came to the same conclusion as Goldilocks and the Geezer, that cholesterol hoovering porridge would be the best bet. I'll bet it wouldn't suit a discerning bear, but I already make porridge with water only (two of sand water, one of cement oats, in the microwave). That is, it still tastes like "papier maché or wallpaper paste", but seems NO WORSE with water than with skimmed (of flavor) milk.

There's another righteous saving in fat, money and calories.

I'll replace the itty-bitty sprinkle of sugar that I add to take the edge off the nasty paste taste with a substitute, once this bag runs out.

What Kind of Breakfast Are You?

You Are Cereal: "Playful and lighthearted, breakfast is likely your favorite meal of the day. (In fact, you're probably the type who sneaks cereal as a midnight snack.) Your culinary skills are probably a bit lacking and you're a sucker for junk food. Some people accuse you of eating like a kid, but you prefer to think of yourself as low maintenance." What Kind of Breakfast Are You?

Best way to start the dayHere's what you can't have for breakfast; a nice gooey slice of Spanish tortilla, nor wonderful pastries favored by Danes, nor a greasy fried breakfast, nor eggs, nor any of those thousands of packaged cereal brands (except maybe some muesli.)

Well, you can't have anything nice, basically! Try this tour around the world of breakfast, starting in Belgium, or typical breakfasts by world regions for more ideas of what is and isn't a healthy way to start your day. Baby Bear and His Porridge
